GOSHALA PROJECT

Gaushalas or Goshalas are protective shelters for cows. Goshala, a Sanskrit word (“Go” means cow and “Shala” means a shelter place: Go + Shala = shelter for cows), means the abode or sanctuary for cows, calves and oxen. In our goshala, cattle are respected, venerated and treated with utmost dignity.

Importance of goshala

  • Grooming and brushing cows offers material and spiritual benefits to society.
  • Cow seva is one of the highest duties and holy actions

OUR GOSHALA

To enable the Intellectually Disabled Adult in our Adult Home attain skills in maintaining and managing Cows ( as most of them are from rural setting) We have started the “GOSHALA” project in May 2014 with two cows and two calves. Excepting milking of the cows, the entire upkeep of the “GOSHALA” is with the Adult Intellectual Disabled persons under the supervision of an expert instructor. The Milk yield is again consumed in our hostels and Campus.
